The first look at Yoshi in ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ just leaked … thanks to Pillsbury.
Pillsbury is going to release exclusive pre-cut Yoshi egg style cookies, and with it they leaked the first look at Yoshi’s design in the film.
The back of the cookie box also leaked and shows Mario riding on the back of Yoshi, just like the classic games. There are also signs of the Comet Observatory from the game which likely points at Bowser Jr. appearing.
Other details on the upcoming project largely remain a mystery, with Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto staying coy about it:
“The Super Mario Bros. Movie was possible because so many people took action and worked together. As a producer, I tried to make sure the team functioned smoothly. Many of the people involved said they’d like to work on the next project as well, so I guess that means we succeeded to some extent? The setting for the next movie is, just as the title says, the galaxy — that’s all I can really say. We’re in the final stages of production now, but I think it’s going to be fun. I usually just say, ‘I’ll keep working on it until it becomes fun,’ so that alone should tell you how confident I am (laughs).”
Here’s the first look at Yoshi. We 100% know this is a legit leak too because Nintendo has already DMCA’d other tweets featuring the images.
Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto also confirmed he’s been less involved with game development, likely due to his commitment as a producer on The Super Mario Galaxy Movie:
“Nowadays, I have teammates who help maintain the world of Mario, so I entrust much of it to them,” he said. “Even so, I always personally play through about the first 30 minutes of the game and check the interface thoroughly — to make sure it really feels like Mario.”
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is coming to theaters on April 3, 2026. So far we have only seen a short teaser for the film. Today, Nintendo announced the official trailer will be released in a special Nintendo Direct on Wednesday November 12, at 6AM PT.
