Twitter (X) is changing their monetization program

Twitter (X) launches new Original Content Rewards Program, replacing Revenue Sharing.

Twitter (X) has announced a major overhaul to its creator monetization system, introducing the Original Content Rewards Program to replace its existing Revenue Sharing program. The new system is designed to reward creators who publish original reporting, analysis, commentary, creativity, and firsthand content.

Revenue Sharing is now closed to new applicants. Existing participants will continue earning through September 7, 2026, before eligible creators can begin applying for the new program starting September 8.

How creators earn

Under the new program, creators are paid based on qualified impressions generated by their original content.

Qualified impressions include:

Unique impressions from X Premium subscribers.
Posts viewed on the Home Timeline with at least 50% of the post visible.

Paid, fraudulent, artificially generated, or duplicate impressions from the same account are excluded. Payouts will continue to be issued every two weeks.

Eligibility requirements

To qualify, creators must:

• Be at least 18 years old
• Live in a supported country
• Have an account in good standing
• Subscribe to X Premium, Premium+, or Premium Business
• Have at least 500 verified followers
• Generate 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users over the past 90 days
• Impressions on replies do not count toward this requirement
• Regularly publish original content

What counts as original content?

Twitter (X) says the program is intended to reward creators who contribute meaningful value to conversations rather than simply reposting existing content.

Eligible content includes:

• Original reporting
• Analysis and commentary
• Threads and articles
• Photos and videos you created
• Memes, graphics and illustrations
• Transformative content that adds meaningful context, humor or analysis

Simply re-uploading another creator’s work, making minor edits, or adding basic captions generally will not qualify.

They specifically cited a couple known content thieves as what NOT to do with image examples:
