Swaybox Studios is holding open tryouts for the upcoming DC film Dynamic Duo. Here’s how you can audition.
Ever dreamed of being in a DC movie? Now is your chance. Swaybox Studios has shared on Instagram that they’re holding open auditions for the upcoming animated-hybrid film Dynamic Duo, which follows the origins of both Robins.
The project was recently greenlit by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures Animation. The film is being produced by Matt Reeves’ 6th & Idaho alongside Swaybox Studios, the New Orleans-based animation company behind the movie’s striking new visual style.
The audition link will be active on Saturday, November 15 from 9AM – 9PM CST. You can find it here. No experience is required, all you need is ‘a ruler and a way to film yourself‘, according to the site. There is currently no other information on the parts auditioning. We will update this article if more information on the roles surfaces.
The film is written by Coco co-writer Matthew Aldrich, Dynamic Duo will explore the early days of Dick Grayson and Jason Todd — the first and second Robins — in a story that’s described as heartfelt, adventurous, and family-oriented. Notably, the movie is not connected to Matt Reeves’ The Batman canon. James Gunn has not yet clarified whether it will be part of the DCU canon or treated as an Elseworlds story. This could be because most aspects of Batman in that universe haven’t been clarified, with Batman the Brave and the Bold reportedly having several changes since it was announced and no cast announced yet. Gunn did hint that given its unique animation styling and the story being finished for Dynamic Duo, it could end up being Elseworlds.
The movie will utilize Swaybox’s proprietary ‘Momo animation’ — a unique hybrid technology blending CGI, practical stop-motion elements, and real-time live performance to create what the studio calls ‘visually breathtaking, dynamically expressive, and more human’ animation.
“I have wanted to make a film with Arthur and Swaybox for many years, and for that film to be Dynamic Duo, an incredibly special and unique Batman and Robin story for families, is a dream,” Reeves said.
