Everything we know about the highly anticipated game from Rockstar.

Here’s a breakdown of key details from Grand Theft Auto 6.
How the Wanted system works
- 6 star system. GTA V had a 5 star system
- Can run off in alleyways and side streets
- Jason & Lucia can split off to distract police
- Cops can identify what you’re wearing and what you’re driving — changing clothes or vehicles can help evade them
- Equipping masks during a crime can prevent police from knowing your appearance
- Hot zones remain in areas where you committed crimes, with police continuing to patrol them for a period of time
- If either Jason or Lucia is arrested, the traditional ‘Busted’ screen appears and you’ll respawn into the world — even if the other character is still escaping the crime scene
Map is ‘very big‘

“If you take a bit of time and explore you will be rewarded – a lot. It’s a big map, a very big map.”
The map displayed on the pause screen is much more detailed than previous GTA games, with satellite imagery replacing the previous rudimentary “Google Maps” appearance of the blocks and streets.
Exploration is rewarded, and so there is encouragement to spend time away from story missions. Events and missions are not limited to those found through objective or map icons.

Rockstar has confirmed that GTA 6’s story will not take players through every part of Leonida, encouraging players to explore the massive open world beyond the locations visited during the main storyline.
“Part of the job of the game’s story is to bring the player around the map in a way that feels authentic and interesting,” Rockstar Senior Vice President of Narrative Rupert Humphries told Game Informer. “We don’t have time to take you everywhere, but we want you to be able to explore and get a feel for most of the places, cultures, and vibes.”
Rockstar North Co-Studio Head Aaron Garbut also described Leonida as the largest world Rockstar has created “by some degree.”

My jaw is on the floor. An easily 100+ hours long game if you focus more on side content… it is significantly longer than Red Dead 2's 50-60 hours length. pic.twitter.com/eBt50ru6em
Story progression can stop until you earn enough money
In Grand Theft Auto 6, players may occasionally be blocked from progressing the main story until they’ve earned enough money. At certain points, Jason and Lucia will need to head into the open world and build up their cash through robberies and other activities before the next part of the story becomes available.
GTA 6 has its own original album
Rockstar is releasing Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album alongside the game on November 19. The official soundtrack album features 34 original tracks inspired by Vice City and Leonida, including new music from Travis Scott, Yung Lean, Future, Metro Boomin, PinkPantheress, Fred again.., Morgan Wallen, Rauw Alejandro and Keith Richards.
The first six songs are already available to stream, while the album will also receive CD and vinyl releases.
The 34-track album does not represent all of the music featured in GTA 6. Rockstar says it will reveal more details about the game’s dynamic score, the “next evolution” of its in-game radio and other music features in the future.
