There are currently seven Marvel projects releasing in 2026. Here are all the details we know about them:
Avengers: Doomsday (May 1, 2026)
• It stars Robert Downey Jr. returning as Victor Von Doom. Many suspect his character will be a variant of Tony Stark.
• Kevin Feige came up with the idea to bring RDJ back as Doctor Doom.
• Will be ‘radical’ and ‘surprising’, according to the Russo Brothers, who are returning to direct.
• RDJ is ‘dialed in’ with his research — “He’s writing backstory, costume ideas … He just loves really rich 3-dimensional characters and I think he sees a real opportunity here with the character.”
• They estimate Doomsday‘s runtime with be 2.5 hours, with Secret Wars being 3 hours.
• Concept art recently leaked and gave off a medieval vibe for Battleworld, although the art could be from Secret Wars instead. You can see it here. The Russos say this art is not official, likely meaning its from an earlier iteration.
• Filming is planned to take 6 months and will largely film inside to avoid pictures being taken. Will be one of the shortest windows of finishing principal photography vs releasing in Marvel history.
• Outdoor filming has been planned in mind knowing photos will likely leak — “The location work we are doing, we have picked those locations with [leaks] in mind … We’re pretty good about shutting that down”.
• The production company name for the project is ‘For All Time Productions UK.’
• Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars will draw inspiration from both iterations of Secret Wars in the comics — “We always create our own version of the story … I grew up on the original run. That’s something that got me into Marvel comic books. The Hickman run is also fantastic [and they’re] very different from each other in a lot of ways, so we’ll draw inspiration from both of them.”
• Both the films will be a ‘new beginning’ for the MCU — “We told an ending story [with Endgame], now we’re going to tell a beginning story.”
• Anthony Mackie says it will capture ‘that old Marvel feeling.’
• Marvel has officially announced the cast for Avengers: Doomsday, featuring a massive lineup of returning heroes, multiversal icons, and surprising additions. The ensemble includes Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing), and Lewis Pullman (Sentry). The X-Men roster features Ian McKellen (Magneto), Kelsey Grammer (Beast), James Marsden (Cyclops), Channing Tatum (Gambit), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), Patrick Stewart (Professor X), and Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler). Also confirmed are Sebastian Stan (Bucky), Letitia Wright (Black Panther), Tenoch Huerta Mejia (Namor), Danny Ramirez (Falcon), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Florence Pugh (Yelena), Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), and Winston Duke (M’Baku).
• Additional reported cast members not yet officially announced include Chris Evans, who is expected to appear as a variant of Captain America, Hayley Atwell as a version of Captain Carter, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, and Tom Holland as Spider-Man. According to Hollywood Reporter, more cast announcements and surprise additions will be revealed in the lead-up to the film’s release.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day (July 31, 2026)
• Tom Holland is set to return.
• Zendaya is also expected to return, but it will likely be a small role.
• Sadie Sink has been cast in the film — current theory is she’s playing Jean Grey or Mary Janes.
• It was previously revealed with the Sony deal that one major MCU character has to appear in each of his films, similar to how Iron Man, Nick Fury, and Doctor Strange have appear in past ones.
• Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi) is set to direct.
• Tom Holland is expected to film this and Avengers Doomsday back to back this spring.
• Not currently slated to release in IMAX. It releases two weeks after The Odyssey, which is shooting with new IMAX camera.
• Filming starts Summer 2025
Daredevil: Born Again S2 (TBA)
• S2 is now filming in NYC.
• It will have 8 episodes.
• Good possibility S3 happens.
• The hope is yearly releases.
The Punisher special (TBA)
• Likely Rated-R / TV MA.
• Special Presentation similar to Werewolf by Night.
• Jon Bernthal is co-writing it.
• Reinaldo Marcus Green (We Own This City) will direct the project.
• Described as a ‘shotgun blast of a story’ with all the ’emotion that you want out of a Frank Castle story’.
Vision series (TBA)
• Starring Paul Bettany as Vision.
• James Spader will return as Ultron.
• Faran Tahir is reprising his role as Raza, a villain from the first Iron Man movie.
• Leaked concept art showed a female Ultron and Star-Lord appearing, although that could’ve been art for Doomsday.
X-Men 97 S2 (TBA)
• Season was delayed to 2026 to finish up some rewrites after a new head writer was brought on.
• Third season has been greenlit and the plan is annual releases.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man S2 (TBA)
• Plan is to still bring back Peter Park voice actor Hudson Thames, despite the ‘woke‘ comments.
• Spider-Gwen is confirmed to make her debut.
• Plan for this is annual releases.
• Writer says he has ideas for at least four seasons.
