Footage from a massive night time battle in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey just leaked
Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey just started filming and images and footage have already started spreading online.
Fans speculate this night time battle footage could serve as a prologue, depicting Odysseus’ role in the Trojan War before his decade-long journey home. Given previous leaks showing a Trojan horse, this is likely the Sack of Troy as described in The Iliad.

The source of the footage is an IG account that features many videos of the set and filming locations.
Universal goes crazy with copyright, even DMCAing their own first look picture of Matt Damon as Odysseus. Despite these being independently filmed videos, expect them to be taken down shortly.
Here’s also a link to it on Reddit if it gets nuked off Twitter (X) and Instagram.
The Odyssey is expected to film for the next few months in locations such as Italy, Greece, Morocco, and the UK. The estimated budget is $250M, most ever for a Nolan film, and is set to release in theaters July 17, 2026.
What’s The Odyssey about?
One of the oldest known works of literature, The Odyssey follows Odysseus’ 10-year journey to return home after the Trojan War. His quest is filled with mythical challenges, including outwitting the Cyclops Polyphemus (which is expected to be an animatronic in the film), resisting the enchantress Circe, and surviving the deadly Sirens. After angering Poseidon, his voyage is cursed, leading him through relentless storms, shipwrecks, and encounters with legendary creatures.
Odysseus loses his crew after they defy the gods by eating the sacred cattle of Helios, leaving him stranded on the island of Calypso for seven years. With the help of the gods, he eventually escapes and reaches Ithaca in disguise, where he finds his kingdom overrun by suitors trying to marry his wife, Penelope. In a brutal final act, he and his son Telemachus slaughter the intruders, reclaiming his home after twenty years away.

The stacked cast alongside Matt Damon includes Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Elliot Page, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin, and Samantha Morton.
