It’s been a huge year at the box office, but not everything has landed with audiences.
2026 has been one of the biggest years in box office history, with several films crossing major milestones and theaters seeing a surge in attendance. But not every blockbuster found an audience. Here’s a look at the biggest box office flops of 2026 so far.

Desert Warrior
Box office: ~$900K
Production budget: $150M
Rotten Tomatoes score: 26%
This Anthony Mackie starring film will end as one of the biggest bomb of the year, no debate. It had the worst domestic box office opening in history for a major film and didn’t even make $1M worldwide. It was largely funded by Saudi Arabia.
Supergirl
Box office: $126M
Production budget: ~170M
Marketing budget: ~$120M
Rotten Tomatoes score: 52%
After Superman was a hit, James Gunn’s DC took a major wacking with Supergirl bombing at the box office. Deadline says the film had a breakeven number of $315M, meaning it will lose the studio nearly $200M. Despite this, WB Boss David Zaslav says ‘DC feels very good’ with Clayface and Man of Tomorrow up next on the film side, and DC Studios will have no strategy shift.
Masters of the Universe
Box office: $114M
Production budget: $170M-$200M
Rotten Tomatoes score: 67%
Despite receiving fairly positive reviews, the film failed to find an audience. It seems like one of those cases of being an IP that younger audiences are not familiar with at all. Amazon has claimed they always keep Prime Video in mind when releasing films, but that doesn’t change the fact it likely lost the studio well over $100M in its theatrical run.
The Bride
Box office: $24M
Production budget: ~$90M
Marketing budget: $65M
Rotten Tomatoes score: 57%
The poorly reviewed Warner Bros film starring Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale certainly lost the studio over $100M. Mortal Kombat 2 and Wuthering Heights were modest hits, but overall it’s been a dismal year for Warner Bros, not to mention the looming sale to Paramount.
The Breadwinner
Box office: $20M
Production budget: $25M
Rotten Tomatoes score: 19%
Film looked like something you’d see released in the early 2000s, and there’s not much else to say about this poorly reviewed flop.
Moana
Box office: $264M
Production budget: $250M
Marketing budget: ~$120M
Rotten Tomatoes score: 31%
One of the worst ever reviewed Disney live-action adaptations needed $600M to break even, according to Variety, meaning it will likely lose the studio over $300M.
Melania
Box office: $16.7M
Production budget: $40M
Rotten Tomatoes score: 10%
While $16.7M would be strong for most documentaries, the fact this cost $40M to make means it’s a huge flop. Strategically, Amazon may see it differently, as the project has been widely viewed as an effort by Jeff Bezos to glaze President Donald Trump.
Disclosure Day
Box office: $241M
Production budget: $115M
Marketing budget: $80M
Rotten Tomatoes score: 79%
The Steven Spielberg film needed $300M in theaters to break even, according to Variety. While still a theatrical flop, this one has a chance to eventually break even and become profitable through VOD and streaming over time.
The Mandalorian & Grogu
Box office: $345M
Production budget: $165M
Marketing budget: $135M
Rotten Tomatoes score: 60%
Again, not in the same category as a lot of the outright bombs above, but it’s still the lowest-grossing live-action Star Wars film in history and Disney admitted it didn’t meet expectations.
They did see revenue from other parts of the company, such as toy sales and attendance to their theme parks, but ultimately, this is a theatrical flop that will likely break even for Disney through other avenues.
