Netflix revealed that the legendary Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy has a role in their upcoming anime adaptation.
Netflix confirmed the rest of the voice cast for the upcoming Devil May Cry anime set to release on April 3, 2025, and the late Kevin Conroy was among them.
Many fans, dating back to last September, suspected he was a member of the cast, and that was finally confirmed after the latest trailer, which you can watch below:

The first voice heard in the trailer is Kevin Conroy. According to Netflix, he will be playing a character called VP Baines. Other recent voice roles for the late actor include Crisis on Infinite Earths Part 3, Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League, and MultiVersus, all roles where he returned as Batman.
Kevin Conroy is not the only iconic voice actor who will appear posthumously in the anime, as Tony Todd will be voicing 3 characters.
It’s unclear what other roles, if any, are still yet to release. His IMDb page lists a project called Relatively Super, which also features Mark Hamill and takes a look at the lives of relatives of actors who play superheroes. and he did record sessions for a web series called Ollie & Scoops, though his episode remains unfinished due to budget constraints. As of now, this may be his final voice acting role.
Dante voice actor added that they recorded together a few years ago, like sometime in 2022, before the actor passed away, and reminded fans that animation takes years to put together. He was asked if he knows of any other voice roles for Conroy coming up, and said he’s unsure.
Another fan asked Johnny if there’s an S2, who would play Dante’s nephew Nero. Johnny Yong Bosch regularly voices Nero in the games. The actor thinks that character is many years the line if the series (hopefully) continues:
Why do you want us to skip 20 plus years for season 2? I’d like to have the DMC animated series around for a while, to ignite and grow the fanbase and give us more games along the way. I want to see full story arcs, not just skip to the end.
Adi Shanker is serving as showrunner for the upcoming Devil May Cry anime, he previously was also showrunner for all seasons of Netflix’s Castlevania series, and recently revealed some other details about the show:
“My DMC Universe is set in a late ’90s/early 2000s PS2 era of the world. It’s not set in modern times. It’s set in my memory of the world, pre- and post-9/11. My music choices reflect this. My series features a mix of hits from that era and greatest musical hits from the DMC franchise (reimagined). You are not prepared for this soundtrack. Anime is not prepared for this soundtrack. Jackpot motherf*ckers!”
Studio Mir, a South Korean studio known for their work on shows like The Boondocks, The Legend of Korra and X-Men ‘97, created the animation for the series.
The rest of the voice cast includes Scout Taylor-Compton as Lady, Hoon Lee as the White Rabbit, Chris Coppola as Enzo Ferino.
The anime is an adaptation of the long-running Capcom video game franchise, which was first released in 2001. Here’s the official synopsis of the anime: “Sinister forces are at play to open the portal between the human and demon realms. In the middle of it all is Dante, an orphaned demon-hunter-for-hire, unaware that the fate of both worlds hangs around his neck.”
