We just got our first update on Insomniac’s Spider-Man 3 in months
With Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 already in early development, Yuri Lowenthal, the voice of Peter Parker in Insomniac’s acclaimed series, has shed light on what fans can expect from the upcoming game. While many speculated that Peter might take a backseat following the events of Spider-Man 2, Lowenthal reassured fans that there will still be a key role for Peter Parker in Spider-Man 3.
“There are very few things that I can say about this game… Peter is not gone. He will be a part of the next game, and he won’t be relegated to the couch, I promise,” Lowenthal said in an interview with The Direct.
What We Know About Spider-Man 3
The ending of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 set the stage for a major shift in the franchise, with Miles Morales stepping up as the city’s main Spider-Man while Peter expressed his desire to take a step back and focus on his personal life with MJ.
This was further cemented in the post-credits scenes, which introduced Cindy Moon (Silk) as a potential new player in the next installment and teased Norman Osborn’s transformation into the Green Goblin—a major villain setup that will likely be central to Spider-Man 3.
With Lowenthal confirming Peter’s involvement, it seems he won’t simply be retired from crime-fighting, but rather take on a different role. It’s like he will take a backseat for part of the story before returning to help Miles Morales, especially given the lineup of teased and confirmed villains—including Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Carnage, Chameleon, and multiple Symbiotes.
Insomniac has yet to reveal an official release window for Spider-Man 3, we’ll share the news in our Marvel section when it happens, however, it may be a while before that happens. The recent Insomniac leaks confirmed that a Venom spinoff project was in development, potentially delaying the next mainline Spider-Man entry. Meanwhile, Marvel’s Wolverine —which takes place in the same universe— is also on the way, likely before another Spidey installment. Other leaked details suggested Insomniac had plans for additional projects, but one that won’t be moving forward is a Spider-Man online multiplayer game, which was reportedly canceled.
